SIGNED Theophilus Brown!

This collection from the Robert Bechtle/Whitney Chadwick library just keeps on giving. Out of the box came this stunning retrospect from Bay Area Figurative Artist, Theophilus Brown, whose work is currently on exhibit at the Crocker Museum.

I mean, look at the endpapers! Brown was at the center of the NorCal movement in the 60s that blended the improvisation and color theory aspects of abstraction with the reintroduction of representation. His work is luminescent, a soft crystallization of California at a time that was full of possibility. The life partner of Paul Wonner for over 40 years, Brown and Wonner cultivated a strong network of artists all over California, working hard to support young queer artists. This copy is a special moment, an encapsulation of his major works, handed from artist to artist.

Includes some laid in articles and ephemera.

If you want it, reach out now because you aren’t the only one. 😁
