Puce green endpapers,  drawing of Russian towers, plants, and portrait in black ink to front, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Olga Andreyev Carlisle: "for Whitney and Bob, Olga, 2000." Mild foxing to top edge, sharp tips, clean interior, tightly bound. Very Good jacket has mild shelfwear, foxing along interior that has stained through to back cover. Text in English, striking full-color Autochrome photographs by Russian Expressionist author Leonid Andreyev. Discovered in 1978, these images dating from 1910-1914 provide an intimate look at Russian bohemia before the revolution. This copy contains original art from Olga Andreyev Carlisle, artist and author and Leonid's granddaughter, a gift for author Whitney Chadwick and photorealist, Robert Bechtle.
