Black-and-white printed photographs included. An autobiography by Josef von Sternberg (1894-1969), an Austrian-American filmmaker. He was a leading figure of the American film industry during the period that transitioned from the silent to sound era. He worked with notable actors and actresses of the time including Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and Greta Garbo. Sternberg was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Director for Morocco (1930) and Shanghai Express (1933).
