Text in Japanese. Black cloth-covered boards in a brown cardboard slipcase. Silver-foil lettering on front cover and book spine. Original black title label with white lettering tipped in on slipcase spine and front and back panels. Part of this label, with white lettering, is on slipcase spine. Covers have light rubbing, else pristine and intact, binding tight, sharp tips. Slipcase has overall surface wear, slight wear to extremities, and a former owner's brief ink inscription, else clean and intact. Pages pristine and intact except for a former owner's pencil annotations on a few pages. Replete with printed photographs in black-and-white and color. Beautiful, concise book about Japanese shoji screens. Shoji are traditionally made of translucent sheets of paper mounted on a wooden frame. They can take on the role of a window, door, wall, or a variety of architectural and artistic features. This book appears to show the shoji in a relatively modern context with its application in c. 1980s rooms and interiors. Part of the book is divided into the four following themes as named in the text: "Lightening," "Partitioning," "Masking," and "Public."
